Quinta Vale D. Maria Douro Red 2017 Portugal Duoro Rotwein. 2017 war ein sehr heisses Jahr in Portugal, was für den Weinanbau seine Herausforderungen mit sich bringt. Hier bei Quinta v. d. Maria kann man aber bestens mit diesen Situationen umgehen und der Jahrgang stellt sich immer mehr als "Total Grandios" dar ... Cristiano van Zeller ist ein wahrhafter Künstler, was Wein und Port angeht. 2003 ist das Jahr des Durchbruchs für Ihn gewesen. Seither zählt er zu den Top-Abfülleren Portugals. Seine Önologin Sandra de Silva (Wine and Soul) führte bis vor kurzem die Geschicke im Haus. Auch sie gehört zur Weinelite Portugals. Der 2009er, 2011er und 2015er Douro Red von Christiano ist wahrscheinlich das Beste, was er je auf die Flasche gefüllt hat! Die Farbe des 2015er ist fast Schwarz, die Viskosität dick, am Gaumen vielfältig und komplex, im Nachhall angenehm und lang ... der Wein hat eine ganz grosse Zukunft vor sich!!! Sehr hoher Genuss- und Spaßfaktor! Noch mehr Potentialfaktor ... Vorraussichtliche Trinkreife: 2018 bis 2060.

Parker 94/100: The 2017 Tinto (Quinta Vale D. Maria) is a field blend from old vines aged for 21 months in 65% new French barriques. It comes in at 15.5% alcohol. Despite that and the substantial time in wood, this seems better balanced (at least in terms of oak) than the Francisca this year. That said, this, too, shows too much new wood, even if it is not quite as overwhelming. Then, the power comes out. There is considerable grip on the finish, and this becomes especially intense. As it sits in the glass, it shows off its ripe fruit. The mid-palate has at least some finesse. Right at the moment, it needs some five years more of cellaring just to calm down. Then, we'll see where it is going over the long haul. It is fair to say it is not showing quite as well as it did in Porto (see the accompanying producer note), but it has an excellent chance of recovering. Most of these Van Zeller 2017 reds now seem to be in a somewhat disjointed phase. There were 16,233 bottles produced, plus some large-format bottles.
