With a little of Hollywood’s South Pacific in the flattering sarong skirt, and a hint of the English lady in the elegantly tailored top, Shelly dress is a dream of a forties dress.

The Shelly Dress is another one of the most stunning and original 40’s Dresses we have ever re-created.  We painstakingly copied the original sample in our archive, and the result is simply fabulous. Available in our very own authentic and natural 40’s Rayon Crepe De Chine fabric in 40’s Red or Navy Floral or Brown Floral. This style is so flattering, it drapes and ties to the front left side, a detail so popular with many of the original 1940’s designers. It has a beautiful sweetheart neckline and tiny shoulder pads… we simply love this dress.

‘Mabel’ has a wealth of beautiful, feminine, forties detailing. The ruffle of the waterfall wrap skirt can both conceal problem areas and lend sweeping curves to those who previously had none.  The darted waist can be cinched in with the integral bow tie belt at the back, or worn looser for a softer fit.  Lots of tiny fabric buttons adorn the centre front of the dress and two more shape its gently puffed sleeves.

This dress is stylish enough for all sorts of special occasions, but we think you will love it too much to leave it at home even on a week day!

The ‘Mabel Dress’ is a “Seamstress of Bloomsbury” Original. If you love vintage design and detailing these garments offer you absolutely authentic quality and 1940’s style.  Often exact reproductions of top class true vintage items, they are made to your size, perfect and brand new.  The authentic Rayon Crepe de Chine fabric drapes beautifully and feels very much like silk, however, it is easy to care for and can be hand washed or even machine washed on a delicate cycle.
