19th Century Liege Proofed 0.57" Calibre Side By Side Double Barrelled Howdah Pistol

A substantial double barrelled percussion cap pistol full stocked in walnut with engraved steel furniture and damascus barrels in a side by side configuration.

The locks are unsigned and have a single line border and floral engraving.

The trigger guard, ramrod pipe and buttcap are similarly decorated.

The stock has a finely hatched grip and the butt is carved in the continental style, although the rest of the stock is smooth and uncarved.

The barrels have a bead foresight and have a release system in the form of a single barrel wedge slotted through the forestock.

The steel is in good condition with the chevron damascus pattern on the barrels still visible.

The mainsprings are strong and both actions are crisp in half and full positions.

There is an oval blank silver (white metal) cartouche at the shoulder.

It carries a steel tipped wooden ramrod.

A beautiful pistol.
