A large sized double barrelled flintlock pistol by John Brasher, a Gunmaker from Caroline Street in Birmingham 1807-1831 who engraved his pieces with "London".
Both barrels are also stamped with Irish Registration Prefix codes for the ownership of guns in Ireland which began in August 1843, WB is the abbreviation for Waterford Borough.
The brass barrels and body are clean and lightly polished with the body having a single line border engraving and a Stand Of Arms on the left and right side with Brasher and London within oval cartouches.
On the base next to the barrel is the pre 1813 Birmingham Proof Mark.
The barrels and the body are also stamped 5 and 6 meaning that perhaps this was part of a larger garniture/set of firearms.
There is a little bruising to the body and the one piece bag shaped walnut grip, but overall I would say that this piece is in good condition. The action is crisp in both half and full position with a smooth main spring and the top mounted safety catch, frizen and tap action selector all operate as they should.
A handsome looking pistol.
Barrel lengths 6cm, Overall lengths 19cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
