These soft shell pants (470 gr/L) are designed for ski touring and are suitable for general skiing activities, all-year mountaineering, and hiking.

We use flex1 soft shell material because it offers excellent movement, durability, windproofness, high breathability, and effective moisture transportation.

The main material is a ripstop, 4-way stretch 86% recycled nylon / 14% elastane flex1 light fabric blend,162 g/m2. The thigh and knee have been reinforced with a double weave recycled 69% nylon/ 19% recycled polyester/12% elastane blend, 205 gm2. The bottom hems have a laminated 100% recycled nylon 191 gm2 that is both waterproof and windproof.

Key features include: A Custom-Fit Waist system, back thigh venting with two-way zippers, two strategically placed thigh pockets, one tool pocket, adjustable snaps around the ankles, stretchable and adjustable snow gaiters.

These pants have a technical fit.

Greg's Take: I opt for these pants more often than not, even on some bitter cold and blustery dawn patrols in the Ravine. A complete redesign from the prior Lyngen flex1, the flex1 light has an improved fit/cut along with an uphill friendly fabric that is both lighter and more breathable. The only time they wetted out was when my knee made direct contact with the snow for an extended period of time, a testament to the current age of softshell design. Pockets are spacious and well placed, the only thing missing is a loop for your beacon. One thing I did not enjoy was the lack of depth the gaiter has on the shin - it reconnects with the main face fabric lower down on the leg compared to the Lyngen Gore-Tex pants, not a deal breaker though. The mountaineering bib attachment is a must with these pants - blocking out that pesky backside draft without adding too much fabric. Bib attachment available in both men's and women's styles.
