Building a quality engine that will last starts with selecting the correct engine bearings.    Measuring your engine case or your bearings is not hard at all.  Simply follow our directions below.  There are actually 49 different sizes of bearings available, depending on how your case and crankshaft have been machined, but there are only three measurements you'll need to get the right size for your particular engine:

First, measure the line bore of the engine case itself with the case closed up, or outside or the bearing if replacing with the same size.

Then measure the crankshaft main journals, or the inside diameter of the bearings you're replacing. Take note:  Your rod journals may be a different size than your main journals. Be sure to measure the rod journals when you're ordering rod bearings. We only need the main journal size for the main bearings here.

Last, measure the saddle width for the meain bearing journal closest to the flywheel on your case.  Sometimes this has been machined.  If you have a different measurement here than what is on the chart, you might need to either machine the bearing set to the new case size, or machine the case to a standard bearing size.
