He joined EMI Records in the late 50's. He became the chief producer for the company's Parlophone label, and from 1962 began working with the Beatles and other British beat groups of the 1960s, including Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas and Jerry & The Pacemakers, with whom he worked on most of their albums. George Martin, the famous producer who revolutionized popular music with 30 No. 1 songs in the U.K. and 23 No. 1 songs in the U.S., was also known as the "fifth Beatle. This four-CD anthology album compiles George Martin's sound productions before he met The Beatles in January 1962. The album features a wide range of artists including Temperance Seven's "You're Driving me Crazy," Martin's first UK No. 1 single, as well as Matt Monroe, Sophia Loren, Peter Sellers, John Dankworth, Humphrey Lyttelton, The Vipers, and many more.
